BALLET
Ballet is the foundation of all dance styles. With proper ballet technique other dance forms are more easily learned. Ballet is difficult and requires time, energy and commitment to the art form. Dancers should be able to perform plies, tendu, degage and rond de jambe at the barre. Center work includes age appropriate stretches, basic positions of the legs and arms, balance, hopping, skipping, jumping, and galloping. Students will learn ballet fundamentals and terminology while developing strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility.
CONTEMPORARY
A fusion of ballet, jazz, and modern dance, and usually contains an emotional journey or story. There is a lot of creative freedom when it comes to contemporary dance.
TAP
Tap is a dance form that teaches rhythm and musicality through the use of fine motor skills, coordination, and balance. Our classes aim to provide our dancers with ability to learn combinations of classical tap steps from the dance style's rich history as well as allowing the dancer to develop an understanding of timing and the aesthetics of sound and how they are used in modern tap dancing. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement.
JAZZ/MUSICAL THEATRE
Students will focus on the fundamentals of jazz technique along with building strength, flexibility, and performance skills. After a warm up and across the floor exercises students will learn a combination from the Musical Theatre repertoire and work on implementing technique and storytelling into each new combination.
HIP HOP
Hip hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements.
